I agree. Lincoln didn’t end slavery because he cared to, it was the better choice because they needed soldiers for the civil war. He still had to have a slight care for Black people to even do that; the action was powerful nonetheless. Ultimately, every president afterwards managed to do something to benefit Black people. The issue still today is that they’re dealing with gradual changes towards equality. I don’t think we’ll ever have full equality in America.

Eventually, people get angry when they feel their identity is being threatened in some way, and this itself is an interesting cause for reflection.
